Guenter Reisch was born in Berlin in 1927. After finishing school in 1948, he took drama lessons and worked as an assistant director under Gerhard Lamprecht, Kurt Maetzig, and Martin Hellberg. Reisch directed many comedies as well as propaganda films. He co-wrote almost all the scripts for his films.
