Christa Mühl studied directing at the Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1968-1973. She joined the East German Television Company as a director’s assistant for “dramatic film art” in 1973; there she worked with Thomas Langhoff and others. A director from 1977 to 1990, she created films based on works by authors Bertolt Brecht, Theodor Fontane, and Anna Seghers, as well as crime films. Since 1991, Mühl has worked as a freelance director and scriptwriter, mainly focusing on directing TV series.
